Ex-corrections Officer Gets 6 Years In Baltimore Jail Plot

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former correctional officer at the Baltimore City Detention Center has been sentenced to more than 6 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to smuggle contraband.

Twenty-seven-year-old Travis Paylor of Baltimore was sentenced Friday in federal court in Baltimore.

Prosecutors say Paylor's is the long sentence given to a correctional officer in the conspiracy at the now-closed jail. Authorities say guards and others smuggled drugs and cellphones into the facility.

Forty people have been convicted in the conspiracy.
