Energy Research Center Rising In Frostburg

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- A center for sustainable energy research is rising on the campus of Frostburg State University.

President Jonathan Gibralter says the $2.4 million facility will house research on energy independence and sustainable sources of energy. The federal government has committed nearly $1.6 million to the project.

The building will be completely off-grid, using electricity generated by solar and wind technology.

Gibralter says the center also will serve as an example of energy-efficient construction for homeowners, farmers and businesses.
