Driver Gets 30 Days In Jail In Fatal 2009 Crash

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for negligent driving and failure to drive on the right after a 2009 crash that killed a Westminster woman.

Anastacia Hardester of Sykesville was also ordered to do 150 hours of volunteer service and attend weekly Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Carroll County Circuit Judge Michael Galloway convicted Hardester of the crimes, but found her not guilty Tuesday of
vehicular homicide and driving while impaired by drugs.

Valerie Claire Tull, 24, died on Oct. 19, 2009, after Hardester's car crossed the center line of Md. 27 near Kate Wagner Road in Westminster and collided nearly head-on with the car Tull was driving.
