Driver Convicted Of Manslaughter In Chase, Crash

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A District Heights man has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a fatal car crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

A federal jury in Greenbelt convicted 27-year-old Anthony Lamont Payne Tuesday in the March death of 19-year-old Terrance Lagrue of Silver Spring, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors say Payne pointed a gun at Lagrue during a high-speed chase on the parkway. Authorities say Payne's car hit Lagrue's vehicle, causing it the roll over and burst into flames.

Payne faces a maximum of eight years in prison at sentencing on April 25.
