Deputies: Man Arrested After Banging On Door With Butcher Knife
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- A 29-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning after authorities say he was seen trying, and failing, repeatedly to break into an apartment in Hampstead with a butcher knife.
Someone called 911 about 12:45 a.m. to report the suspect was trying to get inside an apartment located near the 1300 block of North Main Street, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect was banging on the door, jolting the door handle and even stabbing at the door and weather stripping with a knife, witnesses who heard the commotion told investigators. He left the scene before police arrived.
After 2 a.m., the suspect was seen once more knocking loudly on the door, but he had gone by the time law enforcement returned.
During a search of the surrounding area, though, investigators located a man matching the suspect's description and found a butcher knife on him, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The suspect, identified only as Hector Amador-Martinez, was taken into custody and charged with fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction, carrying a dangerous concealed weapon and disturbing the peace.
