I-95 accident leaves 1 person dead, 3 injured in Howard County
One person died, and three others were injured in a crash that closed Interstate 95 in Howard County on Monday morning, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash, involving a trash truck and a tractor-trailer, occurred on I-95 South before Route 100 in Elkridge around 5:30 a.m., according to police.
All of the lanes are back open.

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 47-year-old Lazaro Miranda of Baltimore was driving a trash collection truck south on I-95 when he hit the back of the tractor-trailer, according to police. It is currently unclear why he crashed.
Troopers said the tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of I-95 at the time of the crash.
Miranda died on the scene, according to police. Two passengers in the trash truck – identified as 22-year-old Juan Cormachi and 35-year-old Fausto Flores – were injured during the crash and taken to a shock trauma center.
The driver of the tractor-trailer – 42-year-old Abdul Abubakar of Parkville – was also injured, according to police. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
There was a passenger in the tractor-trailer who was not injured, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
