Man Guilty But Not Criminally Responsible In Fatal Stabbing

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A man has been found guilty but not criminally responsible for killing a South Korean man and wounding the victim's wife at a nondenominational Christian retreat in Maryland last July.

The case against 30-year-old Song Su Kim of Falls Church, Virginia, was resolved Wednesday in Frederick. Kim pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and was convicted by a judge after a prosecutor read a statement of facts.

Kim was committed to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is a danger to himself or others.

Kim told police he wanted to "invade a Korean" when he stabbed 63-year-old Chung Hwan Park of Suwon, South Korea, and Park's wife Ae Suk Ko at the Anna Prayer Counseling and Retreat Center.
