Man Killed In West Baltimore Cookout Shooting Identified, Suspect Still Wanted

BALTIMORE (WJZ) —  Police have identified the victim of Sunday's cookout shooting in West Baltimore, but not his killer.

No arrests have been made three days after a shooter sprayed bullets into a crowd at a West Baltimore cookout, killing one man and injuring seven people.

Police said they have some leads and some cooperation from the community, but at this point- no arrests.

"I can say, we have some level of cooperation. We're working on a number of leads, hopefully to bring this to a resolution and hold someone accountable. These are leads, they're working," said BPD Commissioner Michael Harrison.

Detectives are still on the hunt for the person or people who shot up the neighborhood cookout.

Acting Mayor Jack Young said the violent night was not enough to break the unwritten code of silence controlling Baltimore's streets.

"We can't police our way out of this. Elected officials can't legislate our way out of this. We're all in this together, and the finger is pointed at all of us collectively because we all have a part to play in this. The stop snitching mentality in Baltimore has got to stop," Young said.

He also encouraged people to give police a heads up even to these impromptu events so they can help keep an eye out for any problems.
