Christie's To Showcase Presidential Artwork

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Art relating to the U.S. presidency will soon be shown in Washington ahead of planned sales of the works by Christie's auction house.

Christie's has announced plans for its "Washington to Warhol" exhibit scheduled for Oct. 5-7 at the JW Marriott Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Highlights in the exhibition include presidential portraits, Chinese porcelain from Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, an early printing of the Declaration of Independence and an original draft of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

It will also include Andy Warhol's "Cowboys and Indians," a series of 10 screen prints from 1986 that included depictions of Teddy Roosevelt, John Wayne and others.

The items are from upcoming sales at Christie's auction house.
