Man killed, 7-year-old injured in Northwest Baltimore shooting
A man was killed, and a 7-year-old boy was injured in a double shooting in Northwest Baltimore on Saturday evening, according to city police.
The shooting occurred on the 3200 block of Reisterstown Road near Druid Hill Park.
Officers responded to the scene in reference to a ShotSpotter alert shortly before 5:30 p.m. Once there, units located a man and a child suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man, later identified as 22-year-old Tyree Brooks, was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Police said the 7-year-old's injuries were non-life-threatening.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made.
Baltimore's Deputy Police Commissioner Kevin Jones said it's not clear yet if the man was targeted. The little boy was in a car with family members when a stray bullet hit him, according to Jones.
"He was an innocent bystander. He was not part of anything that involved the adult male," Jones said.
Homicide detectives have assumed control over the investigation. No suspect information has yet been released.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Homicide Detectives at 410-396-2100.

Community reacts
Two Maryland newcomers were shocked to hear someone had died in their neighborhood.
"We thought it was fireworks or something because the Day of the Dead Festival we thought it was in this area. We didn't know until we came outside that someone had died," said neighbors Jessica and Mike Hoyte.
The couple moved to the state on Monday.
"It's scary. We moved here to get away from that kind of stuff, so I'm kind of second-guessing the move to be honest," said Hoyte.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott was also on scene after the double shooting, stating that we cannot accept senseless violence as the norm in the city.
"We cannot and will not accept that people can just have these guns illegally and be able to use them discriminately in our community, killing one person and harming a child, and thinking they are going to walk free throughout the city of Baltimore," said Mayor Scott.
He called on anyone with information to come forward.
"That person is going to come home and sleep in someone's bed tonight, sleep on someone's couch tonight. We need that person to step up as well. Because you should not be able to sleep on your pillow when you've killed someone and shot a little child," said Scott.
Baltimore police are also asking anyone who might have CCTV or surveillance video in the area to come forward.
