Caretaker Gets 5 Years In Md. Theft Case

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A former home health care worker is going to prison for stealing from a Hagerstown businessman and philanthropist.

Kelli Fae White, 40, was sentenced Thursday to five years behind bars with another 10 years suspended.

She also was ordered to repay at least $35,000 of the more than $80,000 she stole from late restaurateur Nick Giannaris.

Giannaris died in September. He had hosted a charity Christmas dinner for 17 years and established a fund that benefited causes including the Washington County hospital and Hagerstown Community College.

White pleaded guilty in November to two theft counts.
