Capitol Heights Councilwoman Charged With Traffic Offenses
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Prince George's County say they've charged a Capitol Heights councilwoman with traffic offenses.
The Prince George's County Police Department says a patrol officer pulled 60-year-old Elaine Scott Williams over on Friday for a minor traffic violation. Officials say during the stop the officer found Williams was driving on a suspended license and that she was wanted through the Maryland Transportation Authority for failing to appear on a previous traffic violation.
The Prince George's County Police Department says Williams was arrested and later released on her own recognizance.
Williams did not immediately return an e-mail message sent Sunday or a message left with a woman who answered the telephone at her office number.
