BLOG: Thunderstorms Ahead
The jetstream acts as a boundary, dividing the warm and cool air. That jetstream is carved out just to our south right now. In this case, it is locking up the heat to the south and allowing cooler air to drain onto us. Since the jetstream is so close, we are only a couple of degrees below average while the humidity/dewpoints are way down. Even though there will be additional sunshine tomorrow, this is going to be the same setup tomorrow before changes move our way.
A new storm will approach the Mid-Atlantic Monday. Clouds and spotty showers will move in with the warm front part of the storm Monday. This will also keep our highs close to or just below the average of 85 degrees. Then, the warm front will push off to the north of us Tuesday. We will be back in the warm, muggy air at that point with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible - especially during the afternoon and evening. All of that will move out of here Wednesday while highs will remain in the upper 80s.
Less muggy and slightly cooler air will follow this storm temporarily on Thursday. That is, before the next storm starts to move our way next weekend.
