BLOG: Storm Systems Ahead

The Arctic blast has come and gone. Even though it was the coldest air so far this season, just like the last few rounds of cold air, it did not last long. After a cold start to the day, we are back in the upper 40s Monday afternoon - back above the average of 44 degrees. We do have two different storms moving our way this week, but temperatures will continue to run above average right into the weekend. We are even going to top out in the 50s midweek.

The first storm up is coming our way Monday night. It just left the Rockies and is a much bigger storm over the middle of the country, because it will weaken significantly by the time it arrives in Maryland. Also, there is a lot of dry air on top of us that will help to break it apart even more. So the clouds will come in Momday night, then there could be a little mixed rain and snow in the morning followed by some rain showers in the afternoon. But all of this will get out of here Tuesday night.

The second storm won't be far behind. Clouds will come back in again Wednesday night. This storm will move into even warmer air, so we are mainly expecting some rain out of it during the day Thursday. It will wrap up and move east, leaving us for Friday. Winds will really pick up heading into the weekend. This is going to be a colder wind, with temperatures dropping back into the low/mid 40s for Saturday.
