WEATHER BLOG: Rain On The Way
High pressure currently east of New England will lose its influence over our weather as it shifts farther offshore. A series of disturbances will then arrive. Initially a disturbance will come from over the Atlantic Ocean, then from the west as a jet stream flow pattern changes allowing systems to progress from west to east again. These disturbances will keep conditions mainly cloudy and cooler with on and off showers early in the week. It will then be turning brighter and warmer (with less chance for showers ... but still humid) later this week.
Sunday: High pressure extending from the surface up to 20,000 feet will shift east of New England and provide the area with another dry, warm day. After a sunny start, clouds will gather Sunday afternoon as a disturbance over the nearby Atlantic is direct toward the East Coast. A sharpening pressure difference between the high and low will cause winds from the east-northeast to increase.
Sunday night: Clouds will thicken and showers will spread inland after dark as the disturbance nears the Northeast Coast. Any precip. will be light.
Monday: Cooler. Showers will dampen the metro area at times. Steadier rain associated with the disturbance will pass over parts of the region. Patchy fog will accompany the precipitation.
Tuesday: The initial disturbance will shift east of the region but another disturbance associated with a decaying front will move east from the Appalachians and impact our weather, bringing scattered showers and some thunderstorms.
