BLOG: Orioles Season Not Going So Well
First, thank you for listening to Baltimore Baseball Tonight every week night -- In my opinion, the show has gotten better as the season has progressed. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the Orioles. I've said it a million times on the show, this is a very hard team to figure out because they are so inconsistent and streaky. The winning streaks the losing streaks -- team and individual -- the success with RISP, the lack of success with RISP. Then there's the lack of extra-base hits and the wins via the long ball. It's very hard to label this team given all the ups and downs but one thing is for certain, whether or not the O's finish above or below .500, they will not be in contention in September.
Brian Matusz was lit up once again on Saturday and now Jake Arrieta won't make his scheduled start on Saturday. Not to mention, Brian Roberts won't be back until after the All Star break. I'm not taking anything away from Robert Andino or Chris Jakubauskas and the job he's done as a spot starter, but those aren't exactly the names of World Series MVPs.
I thought the O's would win at least 83 games this season... and it looks like I was a little too optimistic.
How much of a let-down has this season been for you O's fans? More than past years???
And what are your thoughts on Brian Matusz and his recent struggles?
