BLOG: January Ends Mild
With the storm tracking to our north and west Friday, it pulled up plenty of warm, moist air on southwest winds. The cold front trailing this low came across and put an end to the wet weather and kicked up some gusty west to northwest winds Friday afternoon. Those winds have tailed off overnight and cooler, but certainly not cold, air is in place now. We now look to the west and see a batch of clouds accompanied by some light snow to the north and light rain to the south stretching along a cold front from near Lake Michigan southward.
Ahead of this front for us Saturday, we will have a little 8-16 mph breeze turning from the southwest. Those temperatures, though cooler than Friday, will still be up about 10 degrees above average. As far as sky cover goes, looks like a general more sun than clouds type of day with some high and mid clouds at times, though we probably have more in the way of clouds as that front approaches late Saturday afternoon. This front will cross the area Saturday evening. Thanks to the dry air pulled down by the storm that departed Friday, this front will have very little moisture to work with and will not result in any rain or snow shower for us. There may be a snow shower Saturday evening in a few spots as close as the Poconos. After some clouds with the front Saturday evening, we will end up mainly clear with a west to northwest wind of 8-16 mph. This front will cool temperatures down a few more degrees for Sunday.
