Best Wildlife Areas In Maryland

If you want to see wild animals that aren't in cages, you need to head to a wildlife sanctuary or refuge.  Here are five in Maryland.

Blackwater Wildlife Refuge

Blackwater offers bird walk tours for $3 (personal car) or $15 (bus).  They need volunteers; check the website for more information.


Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary

The Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary gives tours on the second Saturday of each month.  That's $5 a person.  They need volunteers.  They offer classes; check the website for more information.

Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary

Davidsonville takes care of animals that have been injured or orphaned.   Davidsonville accepts food and money donations.  They need volunteers; check the website for more information.


Frisky's Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary

Frisky's helps take care of injured animals, provide a home for exotic animals that used to be pets and they are an adoption center for pets.  They let people meet the animals; check website for information.


Patuxent Research Refuge

At Patuxent Research Refuge, you can hunt (during hunting season), fish and  observe animals on a guided bird or nature walk.  They have a wetland and Wildlife Viewing Area.
