Baltimore Green Week, April 19-27, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Sponsored by Baltimore Green Works and the Whole Foods Market, the week-long event features everything from educational programs to outdoor activities. Baltimore Green Works in a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns related to the environment. Throughout the year, the organization sponsors a speaker series, educational workshops and other events. Last year, Baltimore Green Week drew about 5,000 participants. From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 27, the 10th annual Ecofest at Druid Hill Park features outdoor live music, local beer and wine sampling and about 100 area vendors who will be selling home and garden products. The event caps off Baltimore Green Week festivities. There will be free workshops at the Howard P. Rawlings Conservatory. A Ride Around the Reservoir will also be held. Children will enjoy visiting the Carrie Murray Nature Center to learn about birds and reptiles.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22 at the Maryland Science Center, children and adults will have a chance to learn about the Earth and how to preserve its natural beauty. There will be a recycling relay race held. Learn about wind turbines and explore the center's green roof. There will by polymer recycling programs in Terralink. All activities are free with paid admission.

The annual Earth Day Cleanup at the Anacostia River Watershed is scheduled for 9 a.m., to noon, Saturday, April 20, at about 20 locations around Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland and in the Washington, D.C., area. Volunteers will be treated to free food and drink compliments of the Seafarers Yacht Club, who co-sponsors the event. A post-cleanup party will be held at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, following the cleanup work. Registration is required.

Earth Day at the Salisbury Zoo is free and open to all. Held from 9 a.m., to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 20, the celebration provides visitors with informative programs about wildlife's role in the environment. There will be presentations by zookeepers, demonstration, face-painting, games and environmental activities. There will be 20 exhibitors on the grounds, including Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, the National Aquarium, Ward Museum and the Delmarva Discovery Center.
