Swathed in red velvet, Sasha's is super sexy. It is located in a 19th century Mt. Vernon townhouse and sports large columns, big art and high ceilings. It is a short cab ride from the Meyerhoff and well worth the trip. It's highly deceptive with its reasonable drink prices and moderately priced plates.

Baltimore, Md. 21201
Hours: Mon to Sun 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

A little further afield in Little Italy, Milan is where the young and hip go to look their best. The three-year-old restaurant has a loungy interior and a dress code that includes "no hats." It has an enclosed patio that's heated when necessary and a mid-century modern décor. The bar makes excellent cocktails and is within walking distance of the waterfront promenade. Late dinner is served from 10 p.m. to close.

Meli in Fells Point is a unique drinking experience as the interior is shaped like a honeycomb and the bar features top-notch honey inspired drinks.  The food is excellent and you couldn't ask for a better place to experience Fells Point. There are occasional dance nights in the basement, but the crowd is classy and you should fit right in.

Owl Bar

1 East Chase Street. Ground Floor.
Baltimore, Md. 21202
Hours: Mon to Sun 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Reviews, Directions & More Info:

Back in Mt. Vernon, the Owl Bar has been perched in the historic Belvedere Hotel since it was a speakeasy in the 20s. The luminaries who have imbibed at the famous bar are too numerous to count but you can see most of their photos on the way in. The interior of this historic spot is one of the most beautiful in the Mt. Vernon area and that's saying something. Be sure to take in the incredible brick work and long bar. The cocktails are expertly prepared, so feel free to drink like F. Scott Fitzgerald, who was known to frequent the bar while he was in town.
