Located in Canton, Smaltimore opened in July. Housed in a building that once served as the home for the Canton Beer Exchange and also the former home of Lagers Pub, the bar is managed by Jason Zink of No Idea Tavern in Federal Hill. Open Tuesday through Sunday, Smaltimore's menu changes often but can include options like grilled cheese sandwiches, quarter-pound burgers, BLTs, fries, tater tots, sushi and a brunch menu.

Liquid Lib's in Timonium, owned by Liberatore's – a well-known operator of Italian restaurants in the area -- opened the wine bar in November. Featuring craft beers, cocktails and 300-400 wines, the menu includes artisan tapas, empanadas, sushi, hand-tossed and brick-oven pizza and more. The wine bar includes a WineStation glass-topped bar, fireplace, tables and stools and a rough-hewn wood community table.

A bar and cocktail lounge combined with a hair salon, the Haute Blow Dry Bar in Harbor East opened in late November. Housed in a 700-square-foot facility, the salon side uses only blow dryers and flat irons, and is a limited-service hair salon. Available for bachelorette, birthdays and girls' night out parties, the salon/blow dry bar serves a selection of cocktails.

In July, the Beatnik Bar & Restaurant, located in Station North, opened its doors to rave reviews. With a casual atmosphere, the bar has plenty of parking in its lot. It specializes in micro-brew beer, locally raised gourmet foods and music. Formerly the home of the San Soo Kab San, a now defunct Korean restaurant, Beatnik serves a line of traditional cocktails, such as dry martinis, Orleans Fizz, cosmopolitan, old fashioned and others.

In May, David's 1st & 10 Sports Bar opened in North Baltimore. Serving both classic and seasonal cocktails, the bar has an extensive selection of beer, wine and a pub menu.
