Arbitrator Sides With Orioles On Bergesen's Salary

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WJZ/AP) -- Right-hander Brad Bergesen and the Baltimore Orioles have argued their cases in salary arbitration. And the Orioles have won.

Arbitrators Robert Herzog, Mark Burstein and Elizabeth Neumeier announced Thursday that Bergesen will be paid $800,000 for the 2012 season. He asked for a raise from $434,000 to $1.2 million during Wednesday's hearing.

Bergesen was 2-7 with a 5.70 ERA in 12 starts and 22 relief appearances last season.

Orioles outfielder Adam Jones remains in arbitration.
