Baltimore Man Arrested for 2015 Murder

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man was arrested and charged Thursday in the first-degree murder of a man in 2015.

Police arrested 38-year-old Fred Whiting III of the 1800 block of Walbrook Avenue in the May 2015 fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man.

On May 19, 2015 at 11:45 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of North Pulaski Street for a double shooting.

Upon arrival, they found a 49-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg and arm. They also found 42-year-old Michael Smith of the 5900 block of Western Run Drive who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Both victims were taken to Shock Trauma where despite the efforts of doctors, Michael Smith died a short time later.

It took nearly 10 months for police to solve Smith's murder.

Whiting is now in central booking waiting for his court appearance.
