7 students hospitalized after school bus crash in Baltimore County
Seven students were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a school bus crash in Baltimore County on Monday morning, according to police.
The Baltimore County Fire Department said they responded to the vehicle crash at Rolling Road and Dogwood Road around 9:30 a.m.
Dr. Rodrick Hobbs, principal of Windsor Mill Middle School, sent a letter to parents and guardians about the crash.
"This morning, your child's bus was involved in an accident. We followed our protocol for bus accidents, and all students were evaluated by EMS at the scene. Seven students were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, and the remaining students are safe and will be brought to school on a replacement bus once police give the all clear," the letter read. "School administrators are on the scene providing support, and staff from the Department of Transportation are investigating this incident."
Hobbs added that parents and guardians should be assured that student safety is a top priority, and encouraged parents with questions to contact the school.
While the cause of the crash is unclear, video obtained by WJZ at the crash scene shows tree branches stuck to the front of the bus, along with a damaged section of bushes that separates the roadway from a parking lot.
Baltimore County Police said the bus also struck a Honda at some point during the crash.
