6 Arrested for Pipeline Protest at Wells Fargo

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Six people were arrested outside of a Wells Fargo Bank downtown in protest of the North Dakota access pipeline.

Around 12:30 p.m., 50 protesters gathered at the intersection of Saint Paul Street and Baltimore Street.

Some members of the group then entered the bank located at 7 Saint Paul Street. Once inside the bank, some of the individuals chained themselves together and refused to leave.

Around 2:15 p.m, after repeated warnings from police, five individuals from Maryland inside the bank were arrested for trespassing, along with a person from Texas.

Wells Fargo is one of more than a dozen banks funding the pipeline. Activist fear it could harm cultural sites and drinking water.
