4-Year-Old Found on Street Corner After Being Taken in Carjacking

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 4-year-old girl was found alone on the side of the road after two suspects stole her mother's vehicle from outside a Highlandtown pizza shop while she was in the backseat, police say.

An officer responded to Filippo's Pizzeria on the 400 block of Conkling Street around 8:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a carjacking, according to a police report.

The officer was told by the owner of the car that she had been inside the restaurant for about five minutes talking to her husband, and left her Nissan Rogue running nearby with her sister and daughter inside.

A witness said two black men, one wearing a light grey hoodie with an eagle design on the back and the other dressed in all black, approached the car with a handgun and pulled the owner's sister out of the vehicle by her hair.

They drove off with the 4-year-old still in the backseat.

Shortly afterward, the child was found several blocks away on the corner of Leverton and Bouldin Streets.

The vehicle has not been found.
