Police were called to the scene after a concerned citizen reported pit bull dogs barking in the yard.

Seventeen animals, including 8 dogs, 4 puppies, and 5 turtles were all seized after they were found in deplorable conditions.

Police say before entering the home, officers observed seven dogs in the yard, some had numerous scars, severe fly strike on both ears, one dog was even found in a washing machine in the rear of the yard.

"The State's Attorney's Office takes animal cruelty cases very seriously. We will be pursuing these allegations as we would in any other criminal matter," said a spokesperson for the State's Attorneys Office.

All 17 animals were taken to BARCS and evaluating following the July incident, no deaths have been reported.
