2 Dead, 8 Injured In Frederick County Collision
NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) -- Two people have died and eight others were injured in a multi-car crash in Frederick County.
Maryland State Police say the Saturday morning collision involved six vehicles on Interstate 70 in New Market.
Police say it began when the driver of a Chevy 3500 van failed to slow down and struck the rear of a Toyota Corolla as eastbound traffic was stopped because of an unrelated incident. Four other cars were involved.
The two people who died are identified as 33-year-old Selly Tle Sin Kai, and 46-year-old Anis Mawi, both of Frederick. They were rear-seat passengers in the Toyota Corolla, and police say neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Eight other people were taken to either Frederick Memorial Hospital or Meritus Medical Center. Authorities aren't yet releasing their names.
