MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- One person is dead after an early morning accident on I-270.

According to police, a 1997 Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the northbound local lanes of I-270 north of Shady Grove Rd. in Montgomery County. The Civic was driven by John Sesay, 26. Police say Sesay struck a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo that was headed northbound. The impact was nearly head on. The Izuzu was driven by Wen Ke Shu. Sesay was transported to Shady Grove Hospital where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Shu was taken to Suburban Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
