Sydney nearly breaks heat record with 116-degree weather

Bitter cold is sweeping large parts of the U.S. but Sydney, Australia, is experiencing just the opposite. On Saturday, temperatures reached 116° F, which is within two degrees of their hottest day on record, which stands at 118° F in 1939, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, New South Wales.
