Sheriff: California Highway Patrol officer kills wife, self
Authorities say an off-duty California officer fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The Amador County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrived at a store as shots were being fired. They later found Brad Wheat, a California Highway Patrol officer, and his wife, Mary Wheat, dead in the parking lot.
