Potential dog owners fall prey to fake breeder websites
A quarter of the estimated 90 million dogs owned in the U.S. were bought from a breeder, according to the American Pet Products Association. Most Americans are likely to look on the internet for their new dog. But we are learning the overwhelming majority of sites advertising pure-bred puppies for sale are reportedly fake.
