What started as a mission to find his best friend's daughter, Joyce Catherine Badon, became a broader effort after her body was found. Two of her friends who were with her in a riverside cabin are still missing. One of the shocking memories I'll always have is just how high some of the debris got.

--a customized camp truck, T-shirts, pillows, backpacks, and photos. Also on the camping pack list, every child needs to bring to camp is a bandana. I know because I've bought my fair share. OK, we're going to try to get out there before it gets too hot.

For volunteer Jonathan McComb, the work is deeply personal. Flash flooding in 2015 in nearby Wimberley ripped his home from its foundation. McComb was the sole survivor after floating downstream for miles. He lost his wife, his young son and daughter, and five friends. I know that there's folks out there that are hurting, and I know exactly how they're feeling. And so I want to be able to help them and hopefully give some closure.

McComb has since remarried and has a five-year-old named Scarlett, who knows his story and why he feels compelled to help. So that was a tough hug when I left her on July 4 to come out here to help. But she understood. You told your five-year-old about it. And I said, there's a lot of people out there hurting, and I'm going to go help them. And what did she say? Gave me a hug and said, I love you. Jonathan McComb has been showing up at Texas tragedies for 10 years now, ever since he survived that flood in Wimberley. And they need the help. Walking along the Guadalupe River yesterday, we saw so many debris piles that have yet to be searched. Adriana, it is just a monumental job. It just looks awful. Janet, thank you so much.
