TxDOT urges drivers to slow down as school zone crashes rise statewide

With students returning to classrooms, TxDOT is reminding drivers to stay alert in school zones after more than 870 crashes were reported statewide last year – a 12% increase. Officials say speeding, distraction, and ignoring school bus laws were major factors, urging drivers to watch for flashing lights, avoid passing stopped buses, and stay off their phones.
