Second inmate escapes Tarrant County custody in two days; sheriff launches review

Tarrant County deputies launched their second manhunt in as many days after another inmate escaped custody on Monday. Sheriff officials said 26‑year‑old Victor Castillo, a designated jail trustee, fled shortly after the lunch hour while working at the department’s laundry facility in south Fort Worth. Castillo was captured after a brief period on the run. The sheriff’s office says both back‑to‑back escapes — each involving different inmates — will be reviewed to determine what went wrong and how procedures failed.
