Judge blocks USDA ban on buying sugary drinks, candy with SNAP benefits
Today, a district judge in Washington, D.C., ruled that the Department of Agriculture did not have the authority to ban the purchase of sugary drinks and candy using food stamps. The Trump administration had issued waivers allowing some states, including Texas, to restrict those purchases under SNAP.
