Federal panel backs design concept for 250‑foot national arch in Washington

A federal commission has approved the design concept for a 250‑foot triumphal arch in Washington, D.C., a monument President Trump wants built to mark the nation’s 250th birthday. The structure would sit between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts will review an updated design before a final vote; all seven commissioners were appointed by President Trump.
