Dallas family struggles after mother seeking asylum detained by ICE

A Dallas family is struggling after a mother with a pending asylum case was detained by ICE during a routine check‑in. Her two young sons are now being cared for by their grandmother, Norma, who says the financial and emotional strain has intensified in recent months. The boys are struggling to understand their mother’s absence, and Norma has been forced to clear out her daughter’s apartment while waiting for answers. The mother, who fled domestic violence in Honduras in 2023 and was granted a work permit, is now among roughly 49,000 immigrants detained in Texas last year as federal enforcement actions continue.
