The warning, which lasts through Tuesday, was issued by the National Weather Service due to wind chills expected to be at or below -18 degrees.
DART has announced it will suspend all rail operations for the next few days due to the major winter weather in the area.
Police departments around North Texas are urging the same type of message: "If you don't absolutely have to be out on the roads today, we strongly encourage you to stay off them."

A major winter event is expected to begin unfolding Sunday night with threats of icy roadways and hazardous travel.
Grocery store shelves were growing empty Saturday night as many North Texans flocked to buy essentials ahead of the winter weather expected to last well into this week.
"She said it was like walking through an apocalyptic movie," Rebecca Benson's husband said.

All lanes of I-35W north of downtown Fort Worth have now reopened following Thursday's massive pileup that left six dead and dozens injured.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration for all counties due to "severe winter weather" impacting the state.
In a video captured by a driver, a person along the highway can be seen ducking near a wall as an 18-wheeler crashed into the pileup, which caused multiple vehicles to go into the air.

It's been a tough 24 hours with the weather turning bitterly cold and ice accumulating across parts of North and Central Texas.

With temperatures in the low 30s Wednesday evening, there is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for just about all of North Texas until 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
