Women Robbed At Gunpoint Frustrated With Police Response

DALLAS (CBS11) - Robbed at gunpoint of all their cash, three women who were attacked along Greenville Avenue in Dallas are furious after they said police never showed up to their call for help.
In less than two weeks, three armed robberies have been reported in the Lower/Lowest Greenville shopping entertainment of Dallas.
During the most recent robbery, the victims said they waited nearly an hour before a police officer called them back for details of the crime.
"He had a gun pointed at my chest and I thought I was going to die and all I could think about was my dad," said Jane Clary. "I thought he was going to kill me."
Clary and her two friends had just finished watching the Super Bowl at Dallas Beer Kitchen when they were robbed in the back parking lot.
They called 911 and were told officer were on their way.
"I figured that a gun being pointed at three ladies at midnight would be pretty high on the list," said Clary.
But after 20 minutes went by, they called again.
"The longer we waited, the more unsafe we felt," said Clary.
After waiting nearly an hour with bartender Ethan Garrison, they went home.
"They could have maybe, hopefully found the guy. But it didn't happen like that," said Garrison.
Dallas Police said the incident is unfortunate. The department had two priority calls at the same time, a shift change and officers responding to other incidents.
"We're too busy answering calls because we're so low on manpower," said Mike Mata, Vice President of the Dallas Police Association.
Mata said the issue is that there are not enough boots on the ground, there is a longer jail booking process and officers are leaving for higher paying department in surrounding cities.
Clary said all she is worried about now is that others could be attacked.
"Now this man who pointed a gun at my friends and myself is still out there," said Clary.
Dallas Police said they have increased patrols in the Greenville Avenue area in response.
Investigators are now looking to see if there is a trend or connection between the three crimes.
