Tortured Dog Living Happy 1 Year Later
WEATHERFORD (AP) - A dog found in North Texas with her muzzle taped shut on her severely swollen tongue now has a happy life one year after her rescue.
The female pug-mix was found last July in Parker County, west of Fort Worth. Besides having her muzzle taped shut, she was dehydrated and had been stabbed repeatedly.
Now named Hope, the pooch lives with Charlie and Kit Moncrief. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that she's in a loving home after a year of surgeries and therapy. Fowler remains committed to finding her abusers, and a $35,000 reward fund remains for those with tips leading to arrests and convictions.
Hope's case inspired Kit Moncrief to create a Saving Hope Foundation to fight animal abuse, neglect and overpopulation.
