The Road To Dallas Cowboys Training Camp - Day 1

OXNARD, CA (105.3 THE FAN) - We have a ton of questions about what this Cowboys team is going to bring to the table this year, and it all starts right here in Oxnard.

I'll get to the Cowboys questions we want to answer in just a moment, but before that I want to tell you a few quick observations from the trip and the Dulce Vida Tequila Beach House, where we are living the sweet life.

When the TSA guy asked me for my ID at DFW Airport, I reached into my pocket where I had just put it while standing in line, and it wasn't there. When he saw the look on my face he said "NEXT IN LINE!"

I freaked out looking for it, crawling around on the airport floor, rummaging through my bag while minutes ticked away for my flight I was already running up against the clock for.

After about 15 minutes, he looked down at his feet behind the TSA desk and said "Cory?! Looks like it fell down behind the desk here."

I scrambled to collect my things and get through the line and sprinted to the gate where there was a 2 hour flight delay…son of a b.

The drive through LA traffic was what I have always been told, but we got to the Pacific Coast Highway, which if you ever get a chance, do it. It's quite possibly the most majestic drive in traffic you'll ever have. Beach, and ocean to your left, mountains, and bungalows on your right. In addition to that, at 3pm on a Friday in the summer, everybody is in their best swimsuits.

Kevin is the best driving buddy in the world. I was behind the wheel, but we basically did our show for 2 hours laughing and cracking jokes and the drive flew by. Couldn't ask for a better co-host to travel with.

Our house has a huge deck. I scored my own room, but I have to share a balcony with Ted. Sometimes it's a win lose.

Alright now to the goods on the Cowboys. We're planning on talking to a plethora of Cowboys players and coaches in order to get you the best information we can and answer these questions, but send me your own answers on Twitter @inthemageors.

1) Who is going to be the backup QB? Looks like they want a youngster to be the guy groomed for it in case Tony Romo goes down, so Kellen Moore, Dak Prescott or Jameill Showers will get their reps in during camp. Here are my two scenarios in case of emergency.

A) One of the three comes in and leads the way to victory and a possible Super Bowl!

B) One of the three comes in and we lose yet another season in the Offensive Line Window.

2) Can the Cowboys take advantage of the offensive line window? You may have to decide between Zack Martin and Travis Frederick at some point, hopefully not, but the point is, you want to take full advantage at having what some would call the best in the NFL. That's why Zeke was picked, so the Cowboys could punish and pound the ball. But with a shaky defense, a QB with question marks and a team that has had one blip of success in 2014, can you maximize what you have while they are still young.

3) Who is playing linebacker for you? Sean Lee. I get it, and hopefully he will stay healthy, (hope is a terrible strategy). Justin Durant, I love the dude, and hopefully he will stay healthy…see above. Damien Wilson already hurt is eye in a paintball war…straight off a Ballers script. Hopefully the Cowboys can find a group that works cohesively and punishes opposing offenses….hopefully…crap.

4) Will the secondary get any help from the defensive line. Look you can blame CB's, you can blame safties, but if QB's aren't getting pressured or hit, those guys can have amazing technique and still be beat throughout drives. Third and short situations are where a QB can tear you up. That being said, if they can hold up and cut off routes and bat passes, the defensive line might have more time to get to and punish the passer. It's one of the most symbiotic relationships you will find.

That's just a few for now, we'll get back to more Cowboys talk throughout the weekend. Make sure to listen in as we'll be carrying your Cowboys coverage at 105.3 The Fan.
