Storms West Tonight

We are watching thunderstorms develop just outside of our area out west just north of Abilene. I expect these storms to start producing severe weather before the evening is done. Though we won't see many storms develop along the dry line they will pack a punch, producing large hail and damaging winds. Young and Stephens counties could be affected by them so we keep our eyes on the radar for the rest of evening. I expect these storms to die down soon after sunset.

Elsewhere expect yet another mild, windy night with lows around 70° and winds out of the south 15-25mph. A few clouds around by tomorrow morning but they'll clear out fast enough. Monday expect another sunny and warm afternoon with highs again getting into the low 90's. Today we got within 3-4 degrees of tying a record high for the date so this is unusually warm weather for time of year. It looks to be our first stretch of 90° plus days so far this year, it'll be in the low 90's on Tuesday as well.

I expect the dryline to produce another round of storms on Tuesday, this will get a little closer to the metro area. Again, they will be more than capable of producing severe weather. The best chance of rain and storms for our area is on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday when a front comes through, stalls to the south, then returns as a warm front on Thursday. The chances only get as high as 40%  though; no indication that these rains will be drought busters. There is a chance they'll be severe though, the SPC show our area and to the north has having the potential for severe weather on Wednesday afternoon.

Because of the front, the clouds and rain chances temperatures should be a little cooler, highs should top out in the low to mid-80's from Wednesday on to the weekend. Only small storms chances again by Saturday.
