Some North Texans Volunteering In Battleground States

NORTH TEXAS (CBS11) - Texas isn't a battleground state, so some of Donald Trump's and Hillary Clinton's most devoted supporters from North Texas are heading out of the Lone Star State to try help their favored candidate to win.
Last weekend, Ray Myers of Forney drove 23 hours up to Wisconsin along with 14 other Trump supporters from the state.
"When we came in here to the Republican office in Osh Kosh this morning, people were astounded," said Myers. "They said 'golly, where did you get all of these people to come in here?'"
All this week, Myers says they'll be walking from house to house and doing other activities to help Trump win this battleground state, where Real Clear Politics said Clinton leads Trump by an average of 5.7 points, 47 percent to 41.3 percent.
"We're going to get out there and get people to honk their horns for Trump and Pence, it's just what we do for excitement and energy trying to create energy here," said Myers.
He said he and others from the Mighty Texas Strike Force are so excited, that they're spending their own money and time volunteering.
"The country is what's real important to us. It's not us, it's about the country," said Myers. "It's about turning this thing around."
Edie Lycke of Dallas just returned home from a three day trip to Charlotte, North Carolina this past weekend.
"I really, really want Hillary to win and North Carolina is a really, really tight race and every vote will count," said Lycke.
North Carolina's race is even tighter than the one in Wisconsin.
Clinton leads Trump there by an average of three points according to Real Clear Politics, 47.1 percent to 44.1 percent.
Lycke says there were a lot of people who volunteered there from all over.
"I totally enjoyed it. I met lots of new people," said Lycke. "I found it fascinating. People were there as far away as Portugal and England."
With the race tightening, Lycke says she's not leaving anything to chance.
"I'm very concerned, which is why I went to North Carolina and why I'm phone banking in Dallas."
Both states are crucial.
President Obama will be campaigning for Hillary Clinton in North Carolina Tuesday and Friday.
Donald Trump will be campaigning in Wisconsin Tuesday night.
