Slightly Cooler, Slight Rain Chances
After a record wet May and above-normal rains in June we have jumped into a series dry spell. As of yesterday we've reached to 6th on the list of longest dry spells ever. Drought is creeping in again from our east:
The latest drought information shows a dry east Texas. That's where you'll find the burn bans. In NTX they almost encircle the Metroplex:
We've got some relief on the way. After the hottest temperatures in three years we have highs slipping down to something more reasonable:
And we are talking about slight rain chances as well. The summer ridge of high pressure is drifting west again. It is opening up the door to a meandering low that will drift from Houston into the Rio Grande Valley into the Hill Country. This should bring some (meager) rain chances:
The extended below shows the slightly cooler temperatures and slight rain chances as well. Nothing dramatic but that's usual for August, our hottest (and one of our driest) months:
