Sanger ISD student killed in school bus crash in Denton County, district says

A Sanger ISD school bus overturned Thursday afternoon in Denton County, killing one student, the district said.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 5 p.m. at Huling Road and Lois Road East.

According to the district, the bus driver and four students were on board.

"No other students were injured," the district said in a message to Sanger ISD families. 

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

"Our hearts are with the student's family and all those impacted by the tragedy," Sanger ISD said in its post. "We are working closely with law enforcement and emergency personnel and will share additional information with our families as it becomes available and is appropriate to release.

"Please keep the family and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts."

The district said Texas DPS is leading the investigation.
