ARLINGTON (CBS11) -World Wrestling Entertainment says WrestleMania 32 set a new attendance record of 101,763, as fans from all 50 states and 35 countries converged on AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

"I don't think any other sports can top that," said wrestling fan Stefan Andresi.

Fans like Andresi, who lives in Connecticut, made the trip from all over the country to be a part of the spectacle.

He was one of the many fans who became caught up in the chaos to get inside the stadium. Hundreds of fans smashed together, shoulder-to-shoulder trying to get into their seats.

At one point, fans started chanting, "Let us in! Let us in!"

"It was a little tense trying to get in at the beginning," said Andresi.

AT&T Stadium and WWE released a joint statement regarding the long wait-times for fan at Wrestle Mania 32.

"To ensure the safety of WWE fans, increased security measures were put in place tonight. We apologize that it may have taken some fans longer than usual to get into AT&T Stadium."

The City of Arlington estimates $42 million in economic impact as a result of the event.  It was also the fifth-highest attended event at AT&T Stadium.

"It's awesome man, you're a part of history. There's nothing better than being part of history and there's nothing better than being a part of history. Even though our seats are halfway up, it doesn't matter, you're part of the experience," said wrestling fan Cary Holmes.

"I turned 52 last week, and I'll tell you what, experience of a lifetime," said Scott Kausal, a fan who came in from Chicago for WrestleMania 32.

WrestleMania 32 also became the highest grossing live event in WWE history as the annual pop-culture extravaganza grossed $17.3 million.

"On behalf of the Dallas Cowboys organization, we congratulate WWE on their historic achievement," said Dallas Cowboys Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson. "WrestleMania was an incredible spectacle like none other, and we look forward to hosting it again at AT&T Stadium."

"We are thrilled that we made history tonight at WrestleMania, further cementing its place as one of the top sports and entertainment events in the world," said WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon. "We thank our fans, the Dallas Cowboys and the entire Jones family for their overwhelming support."
