Rangers Designate Rhodes To Make Room For Adams

DETROIT (AP)  The Texas Rangers have designated 41-year-old reliever Arthur Rhodes for assignment to clear a spot on their 25-man roster for newly acquired reliever Mike Adams.

The move was made before Tuesday's game at Detroit.

Texas got Mike Adams from San Diego in a trade Sunday.

Rhodes, who made his major league debut for Baltimore in 1991, is 3-3 with a 4.81 ERA in 32 appearances for Texas this season. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Rhodes to the minor leagues.

The Rangers last winter signed Rhodes to a one-year contract that guaranteed him $1.4 million, and included a $4 million club option for 2012.
