PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Plano city leaders held an emergency meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss the potential impact of a lot more rain.

Just to the east, eyes are closely watching Lavon Lake.  The lake is less than six inches away from an emergency release.  That means all of its flood gates would open.  Lavon Lake is one of the only ones in the metro area that hasn't been releasing water in recent weeks into the Trinity River system.  So adding water from Lavon Lake, along with more rain, only further increases the chances of flooding along the Trinity River.

"My fear is we are going to have a repeat of the last three weeks where this storm is going to fill up down stream before it even gets to us," says Michael Kinard with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. "But once we reach certain levels we have to release certain gates to ensure the integrity of the dam itself."

City leaders in Plano are bracing for flash floods and the possible risk of tornadoes with this storm.
