Police: 2 Small Children Left Home Alone In Arlington Apartment

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Arlington Police were called to an apartment in the 1600 block of Jones Dr. Thursday morning after a four-year-old girl wandered out of her mother's residence.

Department spokeswoman Tiara Richard said a resident found the girl walking alone in the common area of the complex. When police arrived, they found the girl and her two-year-old sister safe inside the apartment manager's office.

Police said their teenaged brother left them alone in the house and went to school before their mother could get home from work to take them to daycare.

The mother has not been charged, although police continue to investigate. Child Protective Services was notified, as well.

Photos from Arlington Police's Twitter showed officers responding to the event –– they held a "tweet-along" Thursday morning.
